Mt Roland
Three spectacular peaks
Less than a 40-minute drive from River Bend Havens is the beautiful Mount Roland Regional Reserve, the guardian of the Kentish municipality. With several trails for keen hikers, this is a wonderful spot to explore.
The Regional Reserve is comprised of three main peaks: Mount Roland, Mount Vandyke and Mount Claude – and conquering any of these three is a worthwhile expedition, with views of the blue Bass Strait in the north and the stunning Cradle Mountain in the south.
Mount Claude Lookout
The ideal choice for those looking for a short but steadily uphill walk, which will reward you with views of the beautiful countryside of the Kentish area.
Mount Vandyke
For those who like a challenge and have more technical skills when it comes to hiking, this trail involves some boulder scrambling.
Mount Roland
The grandest peak of all three, this trail has an almost 1000m elevation, with spectacular panoramic view from the top. You’ll need some fitness for this one, and always ensure you’re properly prepared for the Tasmanian wilderness.
